Tomita: A Live Radio Tribute, October 17

I’m excited to announce that on October 17 at 10:30 p.m., I’m hosting a live, two-hour tribute to Isao Tomita!

The genius behind sweeping, lush synth epics like Snowflakes Are Dancing and Kosmos, Isao Tomita interpreted classical music through synthesizers and Mellotrons, blowing up the charts in the 1970s and 80s and inspiring a generation of synth artists and even hip hop DJs. But his work wasn’t without controversy, and we’ll be exploring his work, his life, and more.

We’ll also be playing some more obscure tracks, including from his little-known debut Electric Samurai: Switched On Rock, other rarities like Bach Fantasy, and his work with the Kodo drummers. Streaming on KSER.org, or broadcasting on 90.7 and 89.9 in north Seattle, Snohomish, Everett, and Whidbey Islands.

Check out part one of a blog post I wrote as an introduction to Isao Tomita here.
